Q. When will you be open to the public?
A. We expect to open May 2010 with Phase I complete. Phase I is the 2 mile drive-thru portion of the park. Phase II, which includes the educational center and neonatal viewing area will begin construction during the summer 2010.
Q. Do you take animals out of the wild?
A. Bearizona animals are all captive-born and hand-raised. They are socialized to humans, making it easier for us to care for them. Many animals in the educational center will be trained to allow easier husbandry procedures. When proper legal channels are pursued in accordance to state and federal wildlife agencies, Bearizona may provide sanctuary for orphaned wild born animals, or confiscated captive wildlife. The health, safety and welfare of existing animal residents and our staff must be considered and given priority over the health and well-being of an animal in hardship.
Q. How long does it take to go through Bearizona?
A. Visitors should allow at least one hour to drive through the park. Once you have paid admission, you may stay until the park closes at dusk.
Q. Why only exhibit North American Mammals?
A. Bearizona uniquely showcases elusive animals that are conservation success stories in American backyards and public lands. Our hope is that we can facilitate meaningful connections between visitors and indigenous species for the sake of continued preservation.
